The main topics of this course are operational issues, upstream and downstream relationships, supply chain strategies, and the integration of processes using information technology.

Lean Manufacturing & Quality Techniques

This course introduces various lean manufacturing, quality management tools and techniques used in the manufacturing industry. You will learn the basic lean and quality tools, quality function deployment, problem-solving techniques and decision-making methods. You will also be introduced to manufacturing process optimisation and control using statistical process control. This course will also discuss continuous improvement (Kaizen), SixSigma, benchmarking, just-in-time (JIT) manufacturing, Total Quality Management (TQM) and ISO 9000 implementation strategies.

Advanced Manufacturing & Technology

This course will introduce the manufacturing systems, components of manufacturing systems, principles of manufacturing systems, types of manufacturing systems, an overview of classification schemes; single station, multi-station, and production line. An overview of advanced manufacturing processes and Industry 4.0 Technologies such as additive manufacturing, IoT and nanotechnology will be discussed. Also, the course covers the discussion about digital manufacturing, business process, digital business, and advanced manufacturing enterprise.

Admission

Entry Requirements

(1) Regular Entry

  • A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 as accepted by the HEP Senate; OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting CGPA of 2.50 can be accepted, subject to a rigorous internal assessment; OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in non-related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 as accepted by the HEP Senate and with relevant working experience, subject to a rigorous internal assessment; OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in non-related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 as accepted by the HEP Senate and without relevant working experience, subject to passing pre-requisite courses; OR
  • Other equivalent/related qualifications to a Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) recognised by the Malaysian Government.

English Competency Requirement (International Student)

Achieve a minimum Band 4 in MUET OR equivalent to CEFR (Mid B2).

 

(2) Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL)

Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) provides an opportunity for individuals with working experience but lack of formal academic qualifications to pursue their tertiary studies.  APEL involves the identification, documentation and assessment of prior experiential learning to determine the extent to which an individual has achieved the desired learning outcomes, for access to a programme of study.

Applicants should comply with the following admission criteria stipulated by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA):

  • The candidate should be at least 30 years of age in the year of application and possess at least STPM / Diploma / equivalent (e.g. foundation) with relevant work experience
APEL Entry: Turning Experience into Credentials
